Five Types of Popular Golf Art

What do you think of when you hear “golf art”? For some, the term conjures up a picture of a golf course or autographed photos of famous golfers. Others think of the paintings of Linda Hartough and Marci Rule, landscape painters who often paint golf scenes. There are, however, several different types of golf art and golf collectibles that would be at home as game room décor, decorations for a golf room or even as artwork to hang in a corporate boardroom or a sports bar. If you’re looking for art with a golf theme, these are some of the different types of art you might consider.
Golf Course Photography
Golf course photography is more than just a picture of a golf course. Some of the most picturesque landscapes in the world are found on golf courses. They’re designed to be a treat for the eye and soothing for the soul as well as a challenge to the golfer’s game. Golf course photos range from photographs of individual holes on specific golf courses to aerial photographs that capture the layout of the land and the course. Famous golf photographers include Stephen Heit and Joann Dost.
Historic Golf Photos
Over the years, there have been a handful of legends of golf whose photos have become a part of the lore of the game. The famous Ben Hogan golf swing photos, for example, represent a complete analysis of Hogan’s famous form, widely believed to be the perfect golf swing. You can find single photos of Hogan at various points in his swing, as well as collections of golf photos that show the entire swing, one frame at a time.  Other famous historic golf photos include collections of the Grand Slam winners throughout history, and vintage photos of such golf greats as Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Robert “Bobby” Jones.
Famous Golfers
Golf autographs are always in demand. Photographs of famous golfers taken during their moments of triumph – or when they’re relaxing – have always made the magazines and newspapers. Some of the most famous of these photos have become iconic. In addition to legends of golf like Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Walter Hagen, there are photos of celebrities who loved golf, such as Bob Hope, Jackie Gleason and Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball.
Golf Memorabilia
Framed collections of golf memorabilia, sometimes including golf photographs and golf autographs, make beautiful and distinguished wall décor. Among the most popular types of golf memorabilia to collect are pin flags from the Masters and other tournaments, autographed photos of famous golfers and prints of the original Articles and Laws in Play at Golf with photos of the iconic golf landmark, Swilcan Bridge at St. Andrews.
Vintage Golf Art
Over the years, golf has been the subject of advertisements and vintage paintings and photos. They range from whimsical, dreamy paintings of children golfing to striking news shots of Babe Zaharias, one of women’s first golfing greats.
Golf art, whether in the form of framed photographs, painting, prints or framed memorabilia, is always classy and always in style. If you’re looking for the right décor for your golf club, family room or corporate boardroom, check out the selection of golf pictures available to suit your style.

Photos of Golf Courses Yield Beautiful Landscapes for Commercial Spaces

Are you looking for something special when it comes to décor for your office, club room or other commercial space? Golf pictures, especially golf course photography, are an ideal choice for decorating nearly any type of corporate space. Golf photography is widely gaining popularity outside the traditional venues of country clubs and golf rooms and turning up on the walls of banks, law offices and corporate board rooms. What makes photos of golf courses so popular?
Artistry
Some of the best sports and landscape photographers in the world turn their hand to creating photos of golf courses and golf tournaments. It’s no secret that golf courses include some of the most stunning scenery in the world, and golf course photographs take full advantage of the gorgeous greens, stretches of water and beautiful landscaping. Even those who don’t recognize the golf holes represented – and many of them are among the most famous and best known vistas in the world – can’t help but be drawn into the scene. Whether you choose the drama of waves breaking against the cliffs at Pebble Beach, the serenity of Harbour Town Golf Links at Sunset or the arresting beauty of Augusta #12, the Golden Bell at Augusta National Golf Club, a professionally matted and framed golf course photograph is the perfect accent for nearly any corporate or commercial setting.
History
Golf photography creates a connection to cultural history in a way no other type of artwork can. Famous photographs of well-known spots, such as the Swilcan Bridge at the Old Course at St. Andrews, the Amen Corner at Augusta National or Pebble Beach #7, capture both the intrinsic beauty of the landscape and the skill level required to navigate the scenic features while playing the game of kings. Any avid golfer will immediately recognize the 7th hole at Pebble Beach or the deceptively smooth curves of the water hazard at the 15th hole at TPC Sawgrass.
Style
Elegantly matted and framed, golf photographs add a distinguished and classic style to any room’s décor. When you choose golf art from a trusted, reputable dealer, you often have the choice to have your purchases beautifully framed and affixed with a title plaque. The result is a museum quality display that adds distinction to your waiting room, corporate boardroom or office.
You’ll find a wide selection of photos of golf courses around the country and around the world. You can’t go wrong when you hang your favorite golf course on your wall.

Are you looking for a very special gift for the golfer or golfing fan in your life? Why not consider starting or adding to a collection of golf memorabilia? From photos of golf courses and autographed photos of famous golfers to custom displays that include pin flags and Masters tickets, there’s a wide world of golf collectibles that your golfing fan will greatly appreciate. Golf course pictures are a particularly good choice. Is there someone in your life who would appreciate a golf course photo?
Aspiring Traveler
Is there a golfer who hasn’t dreamed of playing the top golf courses in the world? They may not be able to swing a club and hit the green in a painting of Augusta #12, but they can certainly sit back and enjoy the view. In addition to photos of famous greens and holes, you might consider a limited edition print by golf artist Linda Hartough, or a painting by Marci Rule. If you know someone who dreams of walking the course at St. Andrews, why not acknowledge that dream with a photo of the world-famous golf course?
The Golf Enthusiast
Does someone you love dream of playing with the pros? You may not be able to get them into a tournament, but you can certainly give them the scenic tour. The most famous , most treacherous and most beautiful golf holes in the world are among the most frequently photographed landscapes in the world. Pick a framed triptych of photos of the Amen Corner at Augusta, or beautifully framed photo of the famed 9th Hole at PGA West. From Pelican Hill to to TPC Sawgrass, you’ll find photos of golf courses around the country and around the world.
The Decorator
Golf course pictures are always a great decorating choice. Golf courses are among the most beautifully landscaped grounds in all the world. There are holes that overlook sea cliffs, greens that stretch along the banks of rivers and links that make their way through eerily beautiful cypress swamps. Golf course photos are the perfect accent behind the bar in your home den or on the wall of your office waiting room.
When you buy photos of golf courses from high-end dealers, you’ll get more than just a pretty picture. Your photo will be double-matted and framed in museum quality wood moldings, often with an engraved descriptive plate that includes the name of the golf course and other important information.

Iconic Photos of Famous Golfers

Sports photos often headline the news, but only a few of them make it to the status of iconic images. The photos of Bobby Orr’s famous 1970 Stanley Cup goal and Bill Buckner’s missed ground ball come immediately to mind. There are also quite a few iconic golf photos that any golfing fan will recognize immediately. If you’re looking for a special piece of golf room décor, you might check out these iconic images of famous golfers photographed in moments of triumph or play.
The Lost Bet –In 1967, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer were snapped by golf photographer William F. Thompson as they settled up a wager at the end of a round of golf. The iconic photo was “lost” for decades because Thompson promised Palmer and Nicklaus not to sell it to the AP. It appeared for the first time in November 2006, after Thompson’s death. You can put the classic moment of golf history on your wall, complete with signatures and a museum quality frame.
Ben Hogan Golf Swing – Ben Hogan, one of history’s all time golf legends, was the model for the illustrations in Ravielli’s “Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf.” Photos of Ben Hogan at various points in his famous “perfect swing” create stunning photo compositions. A single photo shows the blur of the golf club, but you can also purchase the famous golf photos as a collection, with 3, 6 or even 12 photos showing Hogan’s classic form.
Bobby Jones – Robert “Bobby” Jones is another of the famed legends of golf – not only for his performance on the green, but also for what he contributed to the game off the course. Jones is the most successful amateur to ever compete on the national and international level, but he is also remembered for founding and helping design the Augusta National Golf Club and for co-founding the Masters Tournament held there each year.
Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer at Laurel Valley, 1971 – The King and the Kid had a golf rivalry that spanned decades, and engendered a true friendship between the two famous golfers. The combination of tension and friendship is beautifully captured in a vintage golf photo or the pair striding across the green at the 1971 Team Championship at Laurel Valley Golf Club.
Moments of Triumph – Not all iconic shots are vintage. Some of the most famous golf photos are those of famous golfers of today celebrating their wins.  Phil Mickelson, 2013 British Open winner, raised both arms in victorious jubilation as his birdie putt on the 72nd hole hit its mark, and 2005 Masters Champion, Tiger Woods, pumping his fist in the air in triumph.
Those are just a sampling of the famous golfers you can find captured in their most memorable moments. Any golfer you know would love one of the many golf autographs and golfer photos available as a very special gift this year.
